Is one-page still the best resume format 2026 or is that outdated advice?

Keep hearing mixed things about the best resume format these days… some people say one page is still the rule, others say it’s outdated. I have 3 years of experience + internships, and cramming everything onto one page feels impossible! What’s actually preferred now??

The debate about the “best resume format” isn’t really about page count anymore. What matters most is:

✅ Content quality
✅ Relevant experience
✅ Clear, readable formatting

If you can present your value powerfully in one page — great.
If you need two pages to properly show your achievements — that’s perfectly fine too.

The “best format” is simply the one that communicates your qualifications clearly. Services like ecqwritingservice.com or payforresume.com can help if you want professional formatting without overcomplicating it.

Let me clear up some common myths as a recruiter:

ONE PAGE works best for:

Entry-level candidates

Under ~5 years of experience

Career changers

Straightforward work histories

TWO PAGES work best for:

5+ years experience

Multiple relevant roles

Technical/complex fields

Leadership or managerial work

The best format depends on your career story — not a rule.

Wait, so what’s the best resume format for new grads?? I’ve got projects and internships, but not tons of experience…

@8Rookie For entry-level candidates, one page is usually ideal.
Focus on:

your best coursework

strong projects

internship results

technical skill highlights

Quality > quantity!

Hot take: the best resume format is whatever gets past ATS and shows your impact.
One page, two pages — doesn’t matter if every line earns its place 🤷‍♂️

Resume format varies by field:

Tech / Design:

Portfolio link at the top

Skills matrix

Project impact highlights

1–2 pages is normal

Business / Corporate:

Professional summary

Achievement-driven bullets

Cleaner layout

Length depends on experience

I researched current recruiter preferences. Key findings:

Mobile readability matters more than page count

Most recruiters are fine with 2 pages

ATS compatibility is crucial

Visual hierarchy beats strict formatting rules

Make it scannable and clean 📱

@Shilpi No photos for US/UK resumes.
If you want clean, professional formatting, services like nurseresumewriters.com or medicalresumewriter.com can help — and they avoid gimmicks like headshots.

Stick to:

clean layout

standard fonts

clear sections

no graphics unless your industry truly expects them

Okay but what’s the best resume format for remote jobs? Same rules?

For remote roles, include:

Your location or time zone

Remote tools you use (Slack, Jira, Notion, Zoom)

Examples of async collaboration

Self-management achievements

The basic formatting rules stay the same.

Thanks everyone! I think I’ll try a two-page format since I have several relevant projects. Better than shrinking everything to tiny font 😅
