genuine question about how many pages should a resume be... i've got 3 solid internships (tech startup, marketing agency, consulting firm) plus leadership roles in 2 student orgs. currently at 2 pages but everyone keeps saying "one page only for students!" am i doing it wrong?? 😫

Speaking from experience reviewing student resumes - if you're asking how long should a resume be, the answer is ONE PAGE for students. Period. Even with 3 internships! Focus on impact over exhaustive details. Trust me, recruiters appreciate conciseness.

@8Rookie ok but hear me out - resume length depends on CONTENT not just status as student. if those internships gave you significant, relevant achievements that you can quantify, 2 pages might be justified. quality > arbitrary rules

Let's break down how many pages a resume should be for students:
ONE page if:

Experiences are similar/related
You're applying to entry-level positions
Achievements can be concisely stated

TWO pages if:

Experiences are diverse and ALL relevant
You have significant projects/research
Each role had measurable impacts

yo the debate about resume page length is wild but here's what worked for me: made 2 versions!

1 page with just highlights for career fairs/quick apps
2 pages with full details for specific jobs where ALL experience was relevant
flexibility is key 🔑

when deciding how long should your resume be, think about your reader! as an intern who now helps screen resumes:

most recruiters spend <30 seconds first look
detailed achievements > long descriptions
white space is your friend
bullets > paragraphs

unpopular opinion maybe but i think strict rules about resume length are outdated? like if you can keep someone's attention and everything's relevant... why not 2 pages? just make page 1 super strong in case they don't read more 🤷‍♀️

@8Rookie from what i learned about how many pages should resume be, focus on relevance first! my 3 internships were all in data science, so i could fit key achievements on 1 page. different story if your experiences are more diverse

pro tip: if struggling with resume length, try:

Using shorter bullet points
Removing redundant info
Focusing on achievements over duties
Adjusting margins/spacing
Cutting irrelevant experiences

Got my 3 internships + projects on 1 page this way!

guys let's be real - how long a resume should be depends on industry too! tech? 1 page max. research/academic? 2 pages ok. consulting? better stick to 1. know your audience!
