Wow, thank you all so much for these detailed suggestions! I definitely need to reframe my projects and experiences more professionally. I think I've been too modest and generic in my descriptions.
@TechTrekker I'll send you my anonymized resume via DM.
@JobHunter2025 The STAR method makes so much sense! I've never thought about structuring my bullet points that way.
@Shilpi It's super helpful to hear from someone who actually hires engineers!
Do you think it's worth using a professional resume service like craftresumes or Resume Writing Lab that some of you mentioned? Or should I try implementing these changes myself first?
@DeeCTobiaschu I'd suggest trying these changes yourself first - you've gotten lots of specific advice here. If you're still not getting callbacks after another month, then consider a professional service.
Looking at your resume you sent me - your experience is actually solid, but the presentation doesn't highlight your strengths. Your projects section is buried at the bottom and too vague. Move it up, add details on technologies used, problems solved, and any metrics you can include.
Your software engineer resume has potential - it just needs better framing to match what recruiters are looking for!
@TechTrekker That makes sense, I'll rework it myself first using all this advice. Thanks for checking it out! I'll move my projects section up and add much more detail about the technical challenges and solutions. Feeling more optimistic now about my software engineer resume potential!
