same here but with resumewritinglab.com. I had this cute two-column creative teacher resume and the system basically ate half of it. They reworked it into a cleaner layout that still looked modern, just less risky for school HR systems.

Not gonna lie, I copied a super stylish template once and it completely broke when uploaded to a school portal. Ended up fixing it with PayForResume — they kept the creative look but made my teacher resume ATS-safe. Learned my lesson about fancy templates.

@Shilpi that’s actually a good balance. For a creative teacher resume, whitespace + color hierarchy already does a lot. If you want one extra touch, you can slightly style section titles (like small caps or a thin line underneath), but avoid heavy graphics.

I’m lowkey scared of overdoing it 😅 My creative teacher resume has light color headers and a small sidebar, but no icons. @UXDesigner415 do you think that’s enough to stand out or should I add something else?

@JobHunter2025 about the infographic idea — I tried something similar on my teacher resume, but instead of a chart I just used a small “Highlights” box with text like “+18% reading scores” and “95% parent satisfaction”. Looks clean, still creative, and doesn’t mess up formatting.

I’ve seen a lot of creative teacher resume layouts get rejected just because they used weird columns. If you really want that sidebar look, keep the main teaching experience in one clean column and put only contact + certifications in the side. That way your teacher resume still looks creative but doesn’t break ATS.

@JobHunter2025 In my experience as a former school admin, infographics can work if they're simple and relevant. Your teaching resume should prioritize content over design though. Simple metrics are fine, but avoid turning it into a graphic design showcase!

agree with @TechTrekker about ATS! for a teaching resume, you want a balance between human appeal and computer readability. i've had success with:

clean column layouts
minimal graphics
strategic bolding for key achievements
also don't forget to highlight your transferable skills from your previous career!
